About the Centre
The Zambia-China Research Centre of Excellence was established at the University of Zambia on 1st July 2025. The main aim of the centre is to promote multidisciplinary research, scholarly engagement, and innovation between Zambia and China. At the core of centre operations is the intellectualisation of Zambia-China educational, economic, political, technological, and social relations. Overall, the centre functions as a site for knowledge generation and dissemination, specifically about Zambia-China Relations and China-Africa Cooperation by extension.

Leveraging on the All-Weather Friendliness between Zambia and China, the centre takes keen scholarly interest in documenting areas of cooperation between the two countries and participates in facilitating people to people relationships through research, innovation, and knowledge transfer between academic and research institutions of both countries. In so doing, the centre informs policy and strategic partnerships between Zambian and Chinese academic and developmental actors for sustainable win-win cooperation between the two nations.
MISSION AND VISION
The centre is being established in tandem with the University of Zambia's Motto of Service and Excellence and within the broader framework of the University’s strategic directions of creating Intellectual wealth as well provision of service to the public, including the establishment of strategic partnerships. The centre is guided by the University’s development Mission of “a centre of excellence in higher education for individuals, industry, and society through the provision of quality education, research, and scholarly programmes for strategic human resource development, in order to promote national and regional development, through relevant and appropriate partnerships”. The Zambia-China Research Centre of Excellence’s vision is to be an outstanding and internationally recognised centre of excellence in the promotion of research, innovation, and knowledge transfer between Zambia and China.
The Centre invites strategic partnerships, technical collaboration, and funding support to expand its impact in Research, knowledge dissemination, innovation, and knowledge transfer through people-to-people exchanges between Zambia and China.
